Noise Experiment (2024)
This video documents an experiment investigating how the surface qualities of ceramic objects influence the sounds produced through physical interaction. Ceramic objects with different textures and patterns were struck, scraped, rubbed, and otherwise interacted with using everyday tableware, including spoons, forks, and chopsticks. The resulting sounds were measured in decibels and compared to examine the relationship between surface characteristics and sound. This experiment explores ceramics as a material that can be experienced through sound as well as touch and sight.
